“The County’s employees are an essential element in our collective commitment to public service and the County remains committed to fairly compensating our employees for their work. We've come a long way in addressing many of the issues and we believe the time and effort necessary to reach an agreement should be spent at the negotiating table, not a strike.”

Joint Statement from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 829 and the County of San Mateo:

AFSCME and the County are pleased to announce that they reached a tentative agreement over a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) over the weekend. AFSCME has announced that the labor strike previously scheduled for February 13th and 14th will not occur. Instead they will use those dates to hold a ratification vote for their members. If you are represented by AFSCME and have any questions about the tentative agreement, please contact your AFSCME representative. Thank you.
